I also checked while in full edit mode that when they change into another life stage the eyes would change. I even had to put them thru full edit mode a couple of times to stop it. I would do a full edit mode to fix it and found that the eyes were different when I was planing the outfits and switching hair would also cause the problem. After a baby would become a kid, they would end up with eyes not of either parent or hair color. I had this happen before the patch in a way.
